The Grant scheme for Centers for development

Within the project “Improvement of Local Governance”, funded by the European Union which is implemented through the UNDP Office in Skopje in cooperation with the Centers for development, on July 11, 2018, at the Hotel Mirage, Struga, the Center for development of Southwest planning region held a one-day workshop for the presentation of the Grant Scheme for the Centers for development of planning regions.

The workshop was attended by representatives of local self-government units within the region, representatives of public utilities in the region, representatives of the civil society, business community, tourism cluster, the Agency for Promotion and Support of Tourism, and educational institutions.

The workshop was intended for the presentation of three concepts for project proposals from the annual List of priority projects for 2018. The participants were informed about each project proposal individually by presenting the main goals, activities, time frame for implementation and required budget, ie for the following three project proposals:

Project proposal no.1: Study and basic projects for construction of micro-regional hospitals for stray dogs in SWPR

The goals of the project are:

• Improving the conditions for safe movement of citizens and tourists and
• Improving the living conditions of stray dogs in PESR

Project proposal no. 2 – Basic projects for installation of photovoltaic systems on the roof surface of public buildings

• Preparation of Basic projects for installation of photovoltaic systems on public buildings in the municipalities of the region (from 25 to 38 Basic projects depending on the size of the buildings)
• Utilization of Renewable energy sources; Preservation of air quality; Reduction of electricity consumption in public buildings.

Proposed project no.3 – Basic project for construction of a home for the elderly people and cost-benefit analysis

Project goals:

• Improving the quality of life of the elderly people in the Southwest planning region, ie improving their socio-economic status, availability of environmental resources and integration into the social environment.

On 18.07.2018 is scheduled a session of the Council for regional development where the final decision on a priority project proposal is expected to be made, with which the Center for development of the Southwest planning region will apply for funds from the Grant Scheme.
