Project goals
Within the project “Innovative solutions for better access to services at the local level”, a Network for inclusive regional development of the Southwest planning region was established. At the beginning of 2016, a procedure was initiated for establishing a form of inter-municipal cooperation in the Southwest planning region. In the period from April to October 2016, the Councils of the nine municipalities in the region made decisions for the establishment of a territorial network. With the support of the Ministry of Local Self-Government and UNDP, a draft version of the Rules of procedure of the Network for inclusive regional development was prepared. At the end of November 2016, a constitutive session of the Network was held at which the Rules of procedure were reviewed and adopted, a president and a vice-president were elected, and the goals and future activities were presented.
During 2017, the Program was developed and adopted, together with the Action Plan, for the operation of the network for the next two years. The general goal of the network is to continuously identify the economic problems in the rural areas and settlements in the region, to offer solutions to overcome them, developing a sustainable system between the public, non-governmental and private sector. The activity is part of the project “Innovative solutions for better access to services at the local level”, funded by MLSG and UNDP.
Results
-Meetings of all stakeholders from PESR and initiating a procedure for establishing a form of inter-municipal cooperation;
– Decisions made to establish a territorial network by the 9 municipalities;
– Prepared and adopted Rules of procedure for network work;
-Prepared and adopted Program, with Action Plan, for network work;
– Constitutive session of the Network for Inclusive regional development;
– Establishment of the network and working bodies, election of president and vice-president.
