The Council for development of the Southwest planning region, at today’s regular session, expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the projects in the municipalities that significantly improve the living and working conditions of the population. With the adoption of the Financial and Action plan for the work of the Center for development in 2023, it is realistic to expect that more than 2 million euros will be invested in regional projects, through the realization of more than 60 activities in the field of the Region.

– It is already certain that most of the activities will be aimed at the construction, rehabilitation and reconstruction of the local road infrastructure, then improving the energy efficiency of public buildings, especially by installing photo-voltage panels for electricity production. In the foreground will be the activities to modernize the operation of the municipalities and public utilities in order to raise the quality of the services that the citizens receive.

From the Program for balanced regional development of the Ministry of local self-government, i.e. the Bureau for regional development, in the current year, the Center for development is carrying out activities in Struga for the reconstruction of the streets in the old part of the city, a contract has already been signed for the reconstruction of the fire-fighting facility in Debar, and soon an economic operator is expected to be selected that will reconstruct the school in the village of Bachishta in Kichevo.

– From the same Program, the realization of three larger regional projects in the already mentioned domains will begin very soon, for which, with the Bureau for regional development, contracts have been signed with a total value of 54 million denars. Interventions will be carried out throughout 2023.

The Center for development believes that the successful cooperation with other line ministries will continue, especially with the Ministry of agriculture, forestry and water management and the Ministry of environment and spatial planning, as well as with the donor community, in the first place, Swiss agency for development and cooperation and UNDP. From there, the approval and realization of significant projects is expected in order to improve the performance of the Southwest planning region.
