Project goals
In order to improve the services, and especially the informing of the tourists about the cultural, natural and other attractions in the Southwest planning region, through this project has been developed Android GIS mobile application that will help the tourists during their stay in the Region. For over a hundred attractions in the Region, texts and photos have been made in order to present them, especially at the foreign tourist clientele. There are also data and routes for pedestrian and bicycle paths in the Region. Using modern WEB techniques, the developed application is in the form of a travel guide called SW Macedonia Attractions, and it can be downloaded for free from the Play store and installed on Android devices. The project is financially supported by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ LEIWW + Program) and the Swiss agency for development and cooperation (SDC).
Results
– Prepared texts and photos for over 100 attractions in SWPR;
– Three consultative meetings were held with all stakeholders;
– Created GIS base for tourist attractions in SWPR;
– Created and published Android GIS Application;
– Promotional event, presentation of Android GIS application.
