New capital investments in the Region

NEW CAPITAL INVESTMENTS IN THE REGION THROUGH PROJECTS OF THE CENTER FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THE SOUTHWESTERN PLANNING REGION

The Center for development of the SOUTHWEST planning region, during this year, will continue with the implementation of capital projects in order to improve the conditions in the local areas, where the emphasis will be on increasing the energy efficiency of public buildings, as well as reducing environmental pollution. In this project, whose value is 19,2 million denars, partners are six municipalities in the region – Ohrid, Debarca, Kichevo, Debar, Plasnica and Makedonski Brod. Through the Program for regional development of the Ministry of Local Self-Government for 2021, funds are expected for improvement of the road infrastructure in the municipalities of Ohrid, Struga, Vevcani and Centar Zupa, for which, initially, 5 million denars were approved, and additional efforts will be made for providing another 17 million denars for full finalization of project activities. These two projects, which are part of the Action Plan of the Center for development for 2021, these days, have been approved by the Council for development of the SOUTHWEST planning region and they should be completed by the end of the year.

In the current period, intensive work is being done on the reconstruction of the pool for physical therapy in the special hospital St. Erasmus, an investment worth over 8 million denars. The funds are provided by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Ministry of Local Self-Government, through the project Sustainable and Inclusive Balanced Regional Development.

The Center for Development of the SOUTHWEST planning region is in the phase of making a decision and signing agreements with the most favorable bidders for performing energy controls on 12 buildings, and preparation of technical documentation for improving energy efficiency through reconstruction of 13 public buildings in the nine municipalities in the Region. The project is in the amount of 6,8 million denars, and the funds are provided through the Ministry of Local Self-Government, ie the Bureau for Regional Development.

These days, the Council for regional development, at its 14th session, in addition to determining the activities for the current period, reviewed the reports on the work of the Development Center for the past year, and expressed satisfaction with the level of implementation of projects in the Region. In 2020, through projects of the Center for Development of the SOUTHWEST planning region, capital investments were realized in a total value of 53,3 million denars.
