Constituted the Council for development of the Southwest planning region

Struga, December 3  Today, in Struga, was held a constitutive session of the new composition of the Council for development of the Southwest planning region, at which the Mayor of the Municipality of Struga, Ramiz Merko, was elected President of this body. Thanking for the election, Merko stressed that he expects continuity in regional development, and greater support in the implementation of projects that will contribute to reducing disparities between regions in the country, as well as within them. The members of the new composition of the Council were informed about the current ones, as well as about the new projects that should be realized in the current one, and in the next year. Out of about 126 million denars, funds that are planned to be realized next year through the Center for Development of the Southwest planning region, it is expected that about 115 million will be placed in the nine municipalities, in order to improve living conditions. Most of the funds are from the national budget, through the Bureau for regional development and other line ministries, and the rest is from the donor community. In that context, the cooperation with the Swiss agency for development and cooperation will be continued, for which today, the members of the Council were informed by the representative of the Project Unit of the Project “Sustainable and inclusive balanced regional development”, Sara Osmani. She stressed that the agreements for realization of the investment projects will be signed soon, and for that at the level of the Region, projects in the amount of up to 300 thousand Swiss francs will be supported. Otherwise, today was held a constitutive session of the Council for social protection of the Southwest planning region, and the mayor of the Municipality of Makedonski Brod, Zarko Risteski, was elected president. It is expected that this new regional body, through the engagements of the municipalities and the region, will contribute to the improvement of the social services of the citizens in the Southwest planning region.
