Struga, June 28, 2022 Nearly 18 million denars, funds from the national budget, as well as from the Municipality of Struga, have been invested in the reconstruction of five streets in the old city core, in the second largest tourist center in the country, which will significantly improve accessibility to attractive locations for domestic and foreign visitors. According to the prepared technical documentation, it is planned to remove the stone blocks on the streets “27 Mart”, “Bracha Miladinovci”, “Niko Nestor”, “Goce Delchev” and “Dimitar Vlahov” in order to install a new plumbing installation, as well as networks of EVN and Telecom. Then, as informed by the Center for development of the Southwest planning region, which is the project holder in partnership with the Municipality of Struga, the ground will be compacted and a concrete base with mesh reinforcement will be laid, on which the cleaned stone blocks will be laid, characteristic for this part of town. The length of the five streets that are subject to reconstruction is almost 600 meters, with about 3,600 square meters, and the reconstruction will significantly improve the conditions for traffic and walking through the old part of Struga. It is also expected to improve the supply of drinking water because, in parallel, a new water supply network will be laid in the same length. The works are performed by the companies “Trans AG” and “Markoski K73”. The reconstruction of the works in Struga are part of the project “Support of regional economic development through tourism, culture and other economic activities”, implemented by the Center for the development of the Southwest planning region, approved by the Ministry of local self-government and the Bureau for regional development.
