Just over 24 million denars will be invested in the Nephology Hospital in Struga in order to reconstruct the center and the hemodialysis facility located near the lake, primarily in order to raise the energy efficiency of this important hospital center, but and to improve conditions for employees and patients. Today, this has been made official with the signing of the contract for the realization of this capital facility, which was signed by the Ministry of local self-government, minister Risto Penov and the Director of the Center for development of the Southwest planning region, Mirjana Lozanoska, an institution that is the holder of the project.
Minister Penov expects that the realization of the planned activities will significantly improve the conditions and develop the possibilities of health tourism, since this facility, in the past, was used by a significant number of visitors who stayed on the shore of Lake Ohrid and needed hemodialysis. In the context of raising the conditions for this type of tourism, as significant investments in this part of the region, Minister Penov also mentioned the reconstruction of the facilities of the hospital for Cardiology in Ohrid and for lung diseases in Prespa.
According to the prepared technical project, the funds will be invested in the replacement of the PVC carpentry and the installation of oxygen systems, the production of sanitary hot water, as well as the production of electricity through the installation of a 40 Kw photo-voltage system, said Mirjana Lozanoska from the Center for development, presenting the project activities. In addition, a significant part of funds will be invested in the complete reconstruction of the facility by the lake in order to raise the conditions for performing hemodialysis for patients from the area, but also for visitors who have such needs and want to stay in the Ohrid-Strusa coast.
The director of the hospital, Aleksandar Poposki, and the mayor of Struga, Ramiz Merko, expressed gratitude for the support of this project, who emphasized that this is a significant investment in the hospital for Nephrology since its establishment four and a half decades ago.
The funds for the reconstruction are provided by the central budget of the state, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the Municipality of Struga, as well as from the hospital’s own funds.
