On April 29, 2022, in the hall of the Council of the Municipality of Struga, was held the fifth and sixth session of the Council for development of the SWPR. At the session, the director of the Center for development, presented the three proposed regional projects at the level of concepts, with which the Center for development of SWPR will apply for implementation in the Programs for balanced regional development of the Ministry of local self-government, ie the Bureau for regional development, as well as the three proposed concepts with which the Center for development of SWPR will apply in the Grant Scheme for Investment projects of the Ministry of local self-government and the Swiss agency for development and cooperation. The members of the Council for development of the SWPR, also adopted the List of projects for which funding is required for development of the SWPR for 2020-2023.

After the regular fifth session of the Council for development of the SWPR, the sixth session was held where the mayors and members of the Council and other present representatives from the nine municipalities in the region were introduced to the new investment activities of the Company for managing with packaging and waste from packaging PAKOMAK from Skopje. Namely, in the next period, in order to improve the management of recyclable waste, about 1800 smart sensors will be installed on all containers in the country, which collect glass, plastic and cans and paper. Within the cooperation with the Swiss Embassy and the Swiss agency for development and cooperation, during this year it is planned to install 60-70 vending machines in order to encourage the population to recycle the waste generated within the municipalities. These vending machines will be awarded through a public announcement, to which the eight Centers for development of the planning regions will be able to apply. Vending machines will enable citizens to make a refund of 0.5 denars for each PET bottle / can of the purchased drink. These funds are planned to be provided by the municipalities that will have to appear as partners in the project. In the next period, it is planned to install about 400 return vending machines throughout the country.
