The Center for development of the Southwest planning region and the engaged economic operator – the company Markoski K73 DOOEL Struga have successfully completed the reconstruction of the five streets in the old part of Struga, thus fully realizing all the planned activities within the project “Supporting regional economic development through tourism, culture and other economic activities”, approved by the Ministry of Local Self-Government and the Bureau for Regional Development.

It is about the reconstruction of the streets “27 Mart”, “Niko Nestor”, “Brača Miladinovci”, “Goce Delchev” and “Dimitar Vlahov” with a length of 600 m and an area of about 3200 m2. In the field, in the past few months, the old stone blocks were removed, a new buffer layer and a reinforced concrete base were installed, after which the old stone was reinstalled in order to preserve the authenticity of the old bazaar. The total value of the executive works is almost 13.6 million denars, and the funds are provided by the central budget of the state, as well as the partner – Municipality of Struga.

Parallel to the streets, the Municipality’s project for laying a new water supply network and providing connections for about 100 family houses in this part of the city was realized, for which about 5 million denars were additionally invested from the budget of the Municipality of Struga. New lines of EVN, Telecom and local providers were also installed on the mentioned streets.

The Center for the development of the Southwest planning region, in addition to Struga, within the mentioned project, performed works for the reconstruction of streets in buildings in Ohrid, Vevcani and Centar Župa, for which a total of about 50 million denars were invested. Most of the funds come from the State Budget, but also from the own participation of the municipalities-partners in the project. The goal of the project is to improve the tourism performance of the municipalities through the improvement of the local infrastructure, as well as to strengthen the economic activities in the targeted areas.
