Center for development of the Southwest planning region, within the framework of the project for the re-equipment of the Center for physical therapy at the hospital St. Erasmus in Ohrid, has recently installed and put into operation new equipment, which has significantly raised the level of services at this specialized hospital institution. The total investment is around 2.466 million denars, and the funds have been provided within the framework of the investment projects of the Center for development of the Southwest planning region, as well as from the hospital’s own participation.
Namely, two baths for electrotherapy of the whole body of patients, a cryotherapy unit and a hydraulic lift for the pool have been installed in the Physical Therapy Center. The new equipment will improve services for patients who need hydrotherapy, i.e. hydromassage, as well as facilitate access to the pool for patients who have greater difficulties in movement. The cryotherapy unit will contribute to the reduction of musculoskeletal problems, and can also be used for analgesic purposes, reducing inflammation and slowing down local metabolic processes.
The project for the upgrading of the physical therapy center at the St. Erasmus Hospital is financed by the Swiss agency for development and cooperation, Ministry of local self-government, and co-financed by the institution itself. During the past and this year, a large number of projects to improve the conditions are underway in the Sveti Stefan Cardiology Hospital in Ohrid and the Nephrology Hospital in Struga. Through the projects of the Center for development and with the own participation of the three institutions, approximately 52 million denars will be invested in their reconstruction and modernization.
