The representatives of the municipalities and other important parties from the Southwest planning region, at today’s second forum, decided to propose to the Council for regional development three concepts of regional projects for which funds will be requested from the Program for balanced regional development of the Ministry of local self-government, i.e. from the Bureau for regional development for 2023 and 2024. According to the scoring, about 50 participants of the forum gave the most votes to the concept “Usage of renewable energy sources by installing photo-voltage panels”, in which the following municipalities are called as partners: Plasnica, Makedonski Brod, Debar and Struga . In second place is the concept of “Improved energy efficiency”, with the municipalities of Kichevo, Vevchani, Ohrid and Debrca as partners, and in third place is the concept of “Reconstruction of the road infrastructure in order to improve the tourist offer”, and the partners are the municipalities of Vevchani, Plasnica and Centar Zupa.
It is expected that by the beginning of February 2023, complete project applications with the mandatory technical documentation and calculations will be prepared, with which the application will be made to the Ministry of local self-government, i.e. the Bureau for regional development. The mayors, that is, the nine members of the Council for development of the SOUTHWEST planning region, will also be involved in the entire process of selection and decision-making for the projects.
According to initial information, the total budget for regional projects in the Southwest planning region is expected to be around 54 million denars. These funds, which are allocated from the national budget, will be intended to address the prioritized needs of the nine municipalities, that is, the citizens and other significant entities at the regional level. The program is for two years, ie for the year 2023/24, which means that the implementation of the projects will take place in the mentioned period.
